we are not bad people, we bought a house we could afford, put a good down payment down got a 30 year fixed 6% loan. 7 years later i lost my job. ok worst things can happen. right away i called ocwen the loan servicing company. could not talk to a human, but was able to down load the forms i needed. that was in sept of 09, everything was submited complete. now its april 2010 and they just got back to me and stated unless i could prove in writing from the state of MA that i had atleast 9 months of unemployment insurance from the date on the letter april 1st that they could not do anything to help me. they state in print modifications are not for unemployed people?

first why take so long to send me this letter? i have called several times over the past couple of weeks and this is how there great phone system works. enter your account number or ss number and you go to voice mail that tells you to send them an email.

dont enter any information and the phone goes dead. i have sat and pushed every option on their system and still get the same results. to make matters worst now they just sent me a letter saying my payments are going up $105 per month starting in june.

they claim my taxes have gone up. i have check with the town read my tax bill and as far as i can see nothing has change other than ocwen charging me more every month. my taxes have not gone up 1200 bucks this upcoming year, and guess what when i try to call them to talk about this change i get a voice mail that tells me to send them an email. oh yea they never respond to the emails i have sent them. maybe it should be someone from Ocwen in Washington today explaining there practices!

Request a copy of all your loan docs, see if your required to carry a balance in escrow at all times, RESPA requirement is usually two months, if at anytime you escrow drops below that balance and for each month it remains below that balance a shortage in escrow is occurring. Also escrow payments are based on the previous yrs payments. IE in 2008 they paid from escrow 2500 for taxes and ins, they calculate you escrow payment based on that for 2009, when in fact the actual payments made from escrow was 3000 in 2009, they advanced you 500 and your account is short 500 dollars also for a total of 1000 shortage. Ask your lender for a complete transaction history on the account. This will show escrow paid, in what amount and what date. It will also give you your escrow balance, if you see negative escrow balance, thats your shortage. It may also be forced place homeowners ins, if proof of Ins wasnt provided for the yr.
